Into the Wild #5

Chris's three most positive traits

1.       Dependable

2.       Limitless

3.       Brave

Chris’s three most negative traits:

1.        Stubborn

2.       Rebellious

3.       Headstrong

These positive traits affected Chris as a person because they made him believe he could do anything. Also, I believe he thought he did not have to listen to others, or follow the rules if his safety was involved.  As for the role they played in his Alaskan Odyssey, they helped him get to where he wanted without feeling as though he could not make it. By that j mean he was brave and did not fear what would happen to him or the fears in which might stand in his path.

As for the negative qualities, I feel they affected Chris as a person as well it not so much in a bad way. He was headstrong so he did not listen but it made him a strong person. All of these qualities listen above, let Chris be the person who he wanted to be. Also, they helped him get to his Alaskan Odyssey goal by not letting him give up.

I would say Chris being head strong made him who he was. I believe this had a major impact on Chris's life because it made him not listen to others opinions nor to follow the rules. As for how it affected how Chris was viewed, it made it look as though he was just a spoiled brat who when told no did what he wanted anyway. However, we do learn in the book that the reason he started to shut down was because of how his father’s first marriage ended in a fuss. This caused him to avoid his parents and shut them out more so than before, therefore; when he wouldn't listen to them it would seem as though he was being headstrong and doing only what he wanted.
